Kids Can Cook

Last Friday we were lucky enough to spend some time with Chris from Kids Can Cook. Together we made crepes, yum!

Life Education

This week we have been lucky enough to attend Life Education and meet Harold the Giraffe. We learned about the effects some drugs and alcohol can have on our bodies. We now know some drugs are helpful and some are harmful and how certain drugs can cause harm to our organs.

A huge congratulations to Char who won the most improved trophy throughout the whole Amberley Junior Rugby Club. Awesome achievement Char!

Celebrating the Arts

This term our topic is Celebrating the Arts. Over the last two weeks we have been researching a genre or era of music in small groups. Here is Gemma and Holly's creation - they were researching reggae!

Jelly Bean Jar Estimations

Since the beginning of the term Room 6 has been making estimations about the number of Jelly Beans held in a container in the classroom. We have used our maths to work out the minimum, maximum, mode, range, median and mean of our estimates. Here are some photos of us working out the total sum so that we could work out the mean.

 Caitlin, Jordan and Tiaki worked hard as group and used materials to help them.

 These clever problem solvers even managed to work out how many jelly beans each member of our class would receive. The equation was 426 divided by 27!

Art Road Show

This week we were lucky enough to visit the Art Truck. We saw some amazing artwork by some talented New Zealand artists. Thanks Paul!

A frosty morning for PE!

Room 6 enjoyed some tennis coaching from the Main Power sports coaches in the frosty conditions!

Awesome work Charlie!

We are so proud of Charlie who won the Year 5 Boys Canterbury Cross Country! Amberley School has never had a Canterbury Cross Country champion, what an awesome achievement Charlie! Charlie will now compete in the South Island champs.

Joe Moody & Robbie Fruean!

We were lucky enough to be visited by Joe Moody and Robbie Fruean! They taught us some rugby skills and drills and we taught them Jump Jam. Robbie even bought us all cup cakes!

Well done to all of you who participated in the Fun Run yesterday! You all did a fantastic job.
Special mention to Charlie and Megan who were the fastest boy and girl in the 5km race, and Bek and Liam who both finished the 10km race in under 1 hour! Awesome work!

Fun Run

This week is the Fun Run!
It is great to see everybody training so hard and collecting sponsors. So far Room 6 has raised over $1000!
